Back to the RCBL Home Page Mike Burtner is in his 1st year as Vice-Commissioner of the Rockingham County Baseball League after having served as the league's secretary in 2003. Mike spent 16 years with the Elkton Blue Sox as both a player and manager. While managing the Blue Sox from 2001-2007, Mike led the Blue Sox to one RCBL Championship (2002) and two pennants (2004, 2005) and coached seven players who went on to be selected in the MLB draft. He was also named the RCBL Manager of the Year in 2001, 2002, and 2005. As a player, Mike was named to 3 RCBL All-Star teams (1999, 2000, 2008).  He is also the founder and creator of the RCBL website. Mike was an assistant coach on the Spotswood High School JV team from 2002-2004 and was a member of the Harrisonburg Umpires Association in 2005 and 2006. Mike holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science & Mathematics from Bridgewater College (1997) and a Master’s Degree in Project Management from the University of Wisconsin-Platteville (2010). As a three-sport letterman at Bridgewater College, Mike was a member of ODAC Championship teams in baseball (1994) and track and field (1997) and was an Academic All-American in cross country (1994).
